The green roof on the main office building of Christy Webber Landscapes absorbs significant amounts of rainwater that help to insulate the structure. An extensive green roof covers the main portion of the building with low growing sedums and grasses, while an intensive green roof with up to 3’ of soil carries along the building’s southern edge and is home to clump maples and shrubs. Aside from the aesthetic and insulating qualities, green roofs are thought to extend the life of the underlying roof membrane and the help cool the surrounding environment.
