Passive Solar Walls
The Christy Webber Landscapes headquarters has two passive solar thermal systems. The most obvious is the solar wall the covers much of the southern wall of the shop building. Air enters behind the thick dark panels of the solar wall and is heated by the sun. When the shop is in heat mode it can make use of this pre-warmed air thereby lowering its overall energy consumption.

The second passive solar system is the greenhouse on the roof of the office building. During the winter air enters the greenhouse and is heated by the sun. As with the solar wall, that pre-warmed air is made available to the HVAC system in the building.
